Asparagus ‘Pacific Purple’ is a standout variety prized for its vibrant deep-purple spears, exceptionally sweet flavour, and melt-in-the-mouth tenderness. This premium asparagus performs brilliantly in UK gardens, producing abundant early harvests with spears that stay tender even when they reach full thickness.
The attractive purple colour turns green when cooked, but its raw eating quality is exceptional — crisp, nutty, and far sweeter than standard green varieties, making it perfect for salads, stir-fries, and quick pan-searing.
A long-lived perennial, Pacific Purple establishes reliable crowns that return year after year, delivering generous yields once mature. Plants thrive in sunny, well-drained soil and reward patient growers with an annual crop that improves over time. Ideal for kitchen gardeners, allotment growers, and anyone seeking a gourmet, high-performance asparagus variety with both beauty and flavour.
Whether you're planting a new asparagus bed or adding to an established patch, Asparagus ‘Pacific Purple’ is a top-choice variety for colour, productivity, and culinary excellence.
