Aquadulce is a reliable, cold-tolerant variety prized for its long pods and plump, tender beans. Ideal for autumn or spring sowing, it crops early and heavily, making it a firm favourite with UK growers who want dependable harvests and excellent flavour.

 

When to Sow: Oct- Nov & Feb - Apr

 

HOW TO SOW BROAD BEANS:
Sow in pots - Sow 1 seed per pot/ root trainer filled with damp compost. Cover with 5cm of soil. Transplant out to final positions 10cm apart when large enough to handle and big enough to withstand pests from March onwards.
Sow Direct - into drills in a prepared seed bed 15-25cm apart covering with 5cm of soil. Thin to 10cm when large enough to handle using the thinings to make extra plants.

  • Harvest: When the  pods have begun to swell starting from the lowest first and working up the stems. The smaller they are picked the more tender  and sweet they will be.
