An elegant half-hardy annual with spires of purple-lavender blooms that bring vertical structure and long-lasting colour to beds and borders. Compact, drought tolerant and adored by pollinators — a summer staple for both cottage gardens and cut flower growers.

 

When to sow: Mar - Apr

 

HOW TO SOW  SALVIA FARINACEA:
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto seed compost - do not cover as they need light to germinate. Ideal temperature 18–24°C (minimum 18°C). Keep moist but avoid damping off. Prick out seedlings when large enough to handle. Grow on and acclimatise when all risk of frost has passed.
