A great foragers find but if you don't have any locally you can grow your own. A mild and sweet onion which grows anywhere including shady area and can be harvested whole or cut at ground level leaving the bulb to flower again the following year. All parts are edible including the flowers which make a very pretty spring display.
When to Sow: Sep - May HOW TO SOW: May need cold startification - Best sowed in Autumn and left outside to allow nature to cold stratify. Alteratively seeds can be refridgerated for a few weeks prior to sowing. Sow Direct - broadcast Into a prepared seed bed or in in shallow drills covering with 1cm of soil. No need to thin. In pots - Spw into moist compost and cover with 1cm of soil.
