Office Assistant - Part time
We’re Growing—And We Need You!
Interesting, flexible work in a small horticultural business that fits around your life.

Part-time | Flexible weekday hours | £13 -£15 per hour Depending on age and experience

The Hampshire Seed Company is growing quickly, and we're looking for a General Assistant to join our small team.

This is a genuinely varied role for someone who likes being busy, enjoys variety and is happy to turn their hand to different things. We're a small business rather than a large corporate organisation, so we all work together and priorities can change depending on what needs doing that day.

Some days you'll be working hands-on with seeds and customer orders. On others you might be dealing with stock, administration, suppliers, our website or helping with marketing.

If you enjoy flowers and horticulture, like getting things organised and want interesting, flexible work for a few hours each week, this could be a great fit.
What might you be doing?
The role will include a mixture of:
-
Stock counts and inventory management
-
Purchasing and supplier administration
-
Data entry and maintaining accurate records
-
General office administration
-
Organising and saving invoices and other company documentation
-
Assisting with routine customer emails and enquiries
-
Seed packing and labelling
-
Picking and packing customer orders
-
Updating product and stock information on our website
-
Helping with new products and seasonal launches
-
Supporting marketing activity and content where appropriate
-
General day-to-day support across the business

Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is:
-
Quick, organised and accurate
-
Reliable and able to work independently
-
Confident using computers and learning new systems
-
Comfortable with spreadsheets, data and general administration
-
Practical and happy doing hands-on work
-
Able to follow processes carefully
-
Comfortable moving between different tasks and priorities
-
Happy working as part of a very small team

Previous experience in administration, stock or inventory management, purchasing, e-commerce, customer service or marketing would all be useful.

Knowledge of flowers, gardening or horticulture would be a distinct advantage, and we'd particularly love to hear from people with experience in floristry, flower farming, horticulture or a related business.

Hours
We generally work in four-six hour daytime shifts during the week.
We envisage the role starting at around six to eight hours per week, with the opportunity to increase to two or three shifts per week as the role develops and according to business demand.

We're growing rapidly, so there is likely to be scope for additional hours, particularly during our busiest periods.

The flexibility of the role means it could work particularly well for someone looking for interesting part-time work that fits around other commitments.
