The Hampshire Seed Company is growing quickly, and we’re looking for a Seed Packing & Fulfilment Assistant to join our small team.

​

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys practical work, has excellent attention to detail and is happy carrying out careful, repetitive tasks.

​

You’ll mainly be counting, weighing and packing seeds into individual packets, as well as helping us prepare and pack customer orders. Some of the seeds we work with are extremely small, so good close-up vision, dexterous fingers and the ability to concentrate are essential.

​

If you enjoy activities such as knitting, crochet, sewing, jewellery making or other crafts that require nimble fingers and close attention, you may be particularly well suited to this work.

​

If you’re reliable, enjoy working accurately and are looking for flexible work for a few hours each week, this could be a great fit.

What might you be doing?

The role will include a mixture of:

• Counting, weighing and packing seeds

• Handling very small seeds accurately

• Filling, sealing and labelling seed packets

• Checking packets for accuracy and quality

• Preparing and packing customer orders

• Carrying out basic stock checks

• Organising seed-packing materials and supplies

• Keeping the packing area clean and organised

• Helping with other practical tasks during busy periods

Full training will be provided, so previous seed-packing experience is not required.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and punctual

• Careful, accurate and able to maintain concentration

• Comfortable carrying out detailed and repetitive work

• Able to work efficiently without compromising accuracy

• Equipped with excellent close-up vision, with glasses or contact lenses if normally worn

• Very dexterous and able to handle tiny seeds and small packets

• Able to follow processes carefully

• Happy working independently and as part of a very small team

• Able to travel reliably to our premises

• Flexible enough to work some additional hours during busy periods

Experience of knitting, crochet, sewing, jewellery making, model making or similar detailed craftwork would be particularly useful.

​

An interest in flowers, gardening or horticulture would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential.

Hours

We generally work in four-hour daytime shifts during the week.

We envisage the role starting at around four to eight hours per week, with plenty of scope for additional shifts according to business demand.

We’re growing rapidly, so considerably more hours may be available during our busiest periods.

The flexibility of the role means it could work particularly well for someone looking for a small amount of regular, local work that fits around other commitments.
