Cynoglossum hungaricum is an unusual, hardy perennial producing delicate clusters of rose-pink flowers on strong, branching stems. The small, five-petalled blooms appear in spring and early summer above softly hairy, pointed green leaves, creating a wonderfully natural, informal appearance.
Growing to 40–60cm, this vigorous perennial is ideal for cottage gardens, mixed borders and naturalistic planting. Its pretty pink flowers attract pollinators, while the upright stems add gentle height and colour to sunny borders.
When to Sow: Sep - Apr
HOW TO SOW: For best results, sow seeds directly into prepared, well-drained soil in spring. Alternatively, sow into small 7cm pots of moist, free-draining seed compost in late winter or early spring, covering lightly. Maintain a temperature of 15–20°C and keep the compost moist without waterlogging. Once seedlings are established, gradually harden off and plant into their final positions, taking care not to disturb the roots unnecessarily.
