If you’ve ever pricked out hundreds of seedlings into tiny modules, you’ll know just how much plastic it involves — and how fiddly it can be.
Soil blockers are one of the simplest ways to grow strong, healthy seedlings without trays, pots, or modules.
The Ladbrooke Mini Soil Blocker creates perfectly formed 2cm x 2cm soil blocks, ideal for sowing seeds that will later be pricked out into larger blocks, trays, or straight into the garden.
It’s the system I use most often for starting seeds here on my own flower farm. It’s quick, tidy, and produces beautifully strong root systems because the seedlings naturally air-prune rather than circling around the inside of a pot.
Simply press the blocker into damp compost, squeeze the handle, and you’ll have four perfectly formed mini blocks ready for sowing.
These tiny blocks are perfect for crops that need a little head start before being moved on, and they make sowing large numbers of seeds far more efficient.
