Add something beautifully unusual to your garden with Oregano ‘Kirigami’, a stunning ornamental oregano grown for its delicate, cascading flowers and wonderfully intricate, hop-like bracts. Unlike traditional culinary oregano, Kirigami has been bred for its ornamental beauty, producing an abundance of papery, lantern-like bracts in a gorgeous combination of soft blush pink, creamy green and delicate mauve. Tiny pink-purple flowers emerge between the bracts, creating an exquisite display of colour and texture throughout the summer.
With its compact, gently trailing habit, Oregano Kirigami is particularly well suited to pots, containers, hanging baskets and the edges of sunny borders. Its unusual flowers bring a romantic, cottage garden feel to planting schemes, combining beautifully with soft pastel flowers and silvery foliage.
A wonderful choice for flower arrangers, Kirigami's papery bracts are particularly attractive when dried, retaining their delicate structure and colour. Although its stems are relatively short, they make charming additions to small floral arrangements, dried flower wreaths and other botanical creations.
Flowering from summer into early autumn, this drought-tolerant ornamental thrives in full sun and free-draining soil. Its nectar-rich flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinators. Often grown as an annual in the UK, Kirigami is a tender perennial that may survive winter in a sheltered position with excellent drainage and protection from prolonged frost.
